UPDATE:

Police are investigating a suspicious fire in Lebanon City after a fire broke out at a residence where no one was home.

Police are investigating this as a suspicious fire and have not ruled out arson.

"I looked out the window and I saw all the red lights from the equipment from all around the area, then I saw the flames flying out the roof," commented Dorris and Jerry Myer, who live nearby.

Dorris and Jerry Myer live down the block from where the fire happened this morning on the 400 block of Cherry Street, and when they woke up, they were startled at what they saw.

"Everybody was here and they were on the ball I think it could've been worse it could have been worse,” the Myer couple told us. “They were here quickly nothing else got damaged except the building itself that was good."

Police say between 10 and 15 people lived in the homes affected by the fire but luckily everyone is okay.

"We believe everyone accounted, for the adults were at work and the children were with a sitter," stated a firefighter.

Neighbors reported the fire to authorities after no alarms were triggered. Firefighters came to the conclusion that the house was not equipped with active fire alarms.

"I don't know what more we can say or do when this city or others to make people understand that early detection is their best weapon," the firefighter added.

The fire got inside the walls of the building and worked its way up to the roof.

Police are investigating this as a suspicious fire because at least three separate fires were going on inside the home when the fire department arrived on scene.

The Red Cross is helping the families were displaced by the fire and two other addresses nearby have been condemned for electric issues.
