On Friday morning around 130 a.m., crews were called to Greenview Drive in Shrewsbury for a fire alarm.
A neighbor heard the fire alarm and saw a garage door open with a car in the driveway.
Officers and fire crews arrived and found a young adult male who was unconscious on the couch and an active fire in the bathroom.
The male was awaken and removed from the house and the fire department was able to put out the fire. The source appeared to be a candle which caused damage to the bathroom wall and curtain.
The young man was not injured and did not have to go to the hospital.
Police believe the actions of the neighbor and first responders likely saved the man’s life.
