Now, an investigation is underway.
A look at the aftermath shows a silver car left crushed near 17th and Vernon Streets.
Police say the chase started a few blocks away after officers tried pulling the car over because they thought the driver was wanted.
Instead of stopping, the driver hit the police car and took off. The pursuit ended when the car collided with a pickup truck.
One man says incidents like this happen too often in the city.
"It's a sad sight, I'm hoping that people stop doing things like that, racing through the city like that, its been happening quite often," stated Marc Henderson.
Police say two people in the car suffered minor injuries.
