New study finds 19 percent of stroke patients under the age of 55

Doctors say they are seeing more and more younger people getting treatment for strokes.

Doctors think the reason for the strokes in younger people has to do with increased risk factors such as obesity, diabetes and high cholesterol.

New research published in The Journal Neurology found that in 2005, 19 percent of stroke patients were under the age of 55, which is up from 13 percent from a study done a decade earlier.
